Aveda Summer Solutions

Last week, along with a few other NYC bloggers, I had the opportunity to join Carol Cain of NYCity Mama for an evening of Aveda Summer Solutions.  The event took place at the Aveda Shop in Columbus Circle and bloggers enjoyed a night of relaxation and socializing as well as complimentary hair styling and skin care consultations.

Aveda prides itself on providing beauty industry professionals with high performance, botanically based products that are good for service providers, their clients, and the planet. As such, Aveda products are all natural and plant-based, but not without smelling amazing.

I was particularly excited about my hair consult because my tresses have been suffering a frizzy fate as of late. But during the consult, I learned of one must-have product for this summer. Could it be true that a product exists that makes hair styling faster and easier, while keeping it less frizzy and poofy?

Well, the summer Hair Gods must have looked down and smiled on us because behold the latest product from Aveda: Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother! The plant infusion creates a smooth surface on the all types of hair, the organic tapioca defends against humidity for up to 12 hours, and the hydrolyzed wheat protein protects against surface damage from heat styling. And with a citrus-floral and organic bergamot aroma, it simply smells delightful.

I smoothed some of this hair fix-it-in-a-bottle on my hair and noticed a huge difference. I’ve been using it ever since and it’s really growing on me this summer.

During my skin care consultation, I was introduced to the Botanical Kinetics Collection. One word: wowsa! Living in NYC exposes skin to so many different chemicals and toxins, which tends to be exacerbated with the summer heat and humidity. Luckily, this collection takes care of all that. From the gel cleanser to the toning mist to the hydrating lotion, this collection has it all to balance oily and/or normal skin on a daily basis. The toning mist has proven to be my favorite thus far. It’s so… refreshing!
